Who is Opportunity Bank?

INTRODUCTION

Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited is a member of the Opportunity Transformational Inc (OTI). Started in 1995 as Faulu Uganda owned by Food for the Hungry International (FHI), in 2006 OTI acquired 63%, from FHI and it is the intention of OTI to continue increasing it's % shareholding. It is a leading Ugandan Micro Finance Institution

In December 2008, Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited acquired a Tier 2 Financial Institutions license from Bank of Uganda to operate as a regulated Credit Institution making Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited effectively a Savings & Loan Organisation offering micro loans, savings and insurance products specializing in transformational lending in urban, peri-urban and rural environments.

SHAREHOLDING

Opportunity Bank Ltd, is currently owned by four (4) shareholders; Opportunity Transformational Inc (OTI), Opportunity Canada, Faulu Uganda Trust and Food for the Hungry Association (FHA). The percentage shareholdings stand as follows:

OI Canada Foundation 6.06%
Faula Trust 7.14%
FHI 1.01%
Total 100.0%

Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited employs over 319 workers 57% of them women and 43% men.

    Opportunity Bank Uganda Limited has 18 branches in Uganda, 7 are located in Kampala city and 11 in the upcountry towns of Mbarara, Masaka, Kyenjojo, Nansana, Hoima, Iganga ,Jinja, Mbale, Soroti, Mayuge, Kalagi, Mukono and Mubende. There is ongoing aggressive outreach to rural areas through strategic growth.
